A Quiet Night in Nevada Was Interrupted by a Crash That Destroyed a Wall and Sent a Car Flying
What began as a quiet night in Nevada ended with a destroyed wall, a car flying through the air, and a person face down in a pool. Cletis Reed was just about to spend time in his hot tub with a cold drink. He had just opened one part of it and returned to the house to tell his wife something.
At that moment, a driver speeding lost control of their car, crashed into Reed’s wall, was ejected from the vehicle, and ended up in his pool. The car continued moving, destroying the roof that was located right above the hot tub. Somehow everyone survived, but you have to see the video to believe it.
According to Police and Surveillance Video
The crash occurred late on the night of December 15th. Investigators believe the driver was allegedly speeding before failing to stop, crashing into a wall, and launching the car into a neighbor’s yard as if it were a scene from an action movie. Of course, it all happened without a stunt team or a safety plan.
The car is likely a Chevrolet Equinox. When it hits the wall, it begins to flip in the air. It is at this moment that the driver falls straight out of the driver’s window and lands in Reed’s pool.
It sounded like a freight train. I came out and saw my yard completely destroyed. The patio on the ground, a woman swimming in my pool.
Reed said he was moments away from getting into his hot tub, which is located near the wall that collapsed during the crash. If he had been standing there, he believes the outcome could have been fatal.
She got lucky, and I got lucky.
Reed and others pulled the driver from the water, where she was conscious but disoriented and moaning. After about 15 minutes, she was apparently already standing and talking to the police. She was later transported to a hospital in Arizona.
Recovery Costing Nearly $300,000
The car ended up in such an awkward position that a tow truck had to use a crane to extract it from the yard. Unfortunately for Reed, the damages did not end there. The crash destroyed his patio and contaminated his $25,000 pool with motor oil.
Reed estimates repairs could approach $300,000 and says the pool may have to be completely drained. The driver reportedly has prior traffic violations, and police are still determining whether charges will be filed. Despite everything, it could have been much worse, and we are glad it wasn’t.
Incidents like this are a reminder of how quickly a road situation can spiral out of control and cause significant damage not only to property but also to people’s lives. The fortunate outcome of this crash, with everyone surviving, is a true miracle given the scale of destruction. This story also highlights the importance of proper fencing and private property security, especially in areas with active traffic. The question of compensation for the significant material damage remains open, and the process may be lengthy for the affected owner.
