In 2016, Hamid Adeli decided to buy a used Ferrari and found a suitable example at a Mercedes dealership (most likely the car was traded in there). The price of the Ferrari F430 was quite attractive – $90,000. The dealership sellers assured that the car was in perfect condition.

Adeli decided not to take the car to a service center but used a Ferrari specialist’s services. During the inspection, the specialist found minor faults, which were promptly fixed. Dealership Paid Owner of Defective Ferrari $5.8 Million

The satisfied buyer drove off in the Ferrari F430, but soon problems arose. The car started smelling of gasoline: it turned out that the intake manifold was damaged, causing it to lose its tightness. Hamid Adeli approached the sellers, but they claimed he was to blame for the breakdown for improperly operating the Ferrari sports car.

The American then took the case to court and won. As a result, the dealership paid him $6,835 for replacing the manifold, $13,366 for associated damages, and $5.8 million in moral damage compensation.
