Driving Simulators in Ukraine Are Gaining Popularity Among Military and Civilians

Once computer games now help not only to survive but also allow for bringing Victory closer. Until recently, various types of computer games and simulators were perceived as entertainment, but now the situation has changed dramatically – those who “played” for hours now play a crucial role in training fighters and even directly on the front line.

This primarily concerns drone operators, but professional shooters have also found a significant place in the real world during wartime. However, driving simulators deserve special attention. Unfortunately, special simulators with maximum replication of virtual, but reality, are mainly in Kyiv and other large cities. In fact, internships on them are invaluable because a simulator develops the ability to drive a car using only visual understanding and feedback on the steering wheel.

Virtual racing is gaining popularity year after year among motorsport fans, computer game lovers, and everyone else interested in cars and new technologies. Names such as Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, George Russell, and many other top Formula 1 drivers happily participate in cyber competitions during breaks, between Grand Prix stages.

Simracing tournaments also draw attention, with prize pools growing every year. A prime example is the 2023 ESL R1 tournament with a prize fund of 500,000 euros. Emphasized by the company 7DRIVE, the first to promote simracing in Kyiv since 2014. Currently operates a location with professional-level simulators where everyone interested can try themselves as an F-1, GT3, GT4, LMS pilot or simply drive through picturesque tracks in civilian versions of “cars from covers”.

Available are driving simulators on both mobile and stationary platforms. Steering wheels and pedals from the famous German manufacturer Fanatec. Thanks to the feedback on the steering wheel, all information from the wheels on the road is transmitted, providing the feeling of driving a real car. They also have drift setups with a handbrake, suitable steering base settings, and drifting content.

You can ride both alone and with friends or comrades. Fortunately, even in these difficult times, more and more military personnel use driving simulators in Kyiv to hone driving skills, which are invaluable both “at zero” and in everyday life, which sometimes forces us to drive in extreme conditions. Just recall February 24-25…
