On Turbo insert No. 48, a BMW R80 RT motorcycle is depicted. It is not the most famous BMW bike of the 80s, but it was quite decent for its time. And it is definitely better than all the two-wheeled vehicles that rode on our roads in those days, so in the times of our childhood, it was definitely considered cool.
The tourist BMW R80 RT was introduced in 1982 as a more affordable version of the R100 model.
If the older brother was a liter engine, then it was equipped with a boxer twin-cylinder engine with a capacity of 789 cubic cm.
The BMW engine developed 50 hp and had a torque of 59 Nm. Drive was provided by a shaft drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h took 7.1 seconds, and the maximum speed was 163 km/h. All BMW R80 RTs were equipped with a fairing with a windshield, and for an additional fee, side cases were offered.
The BMW motorcycle was equipped with electric ignition and a front disc brake.
The BMW R80 RT was in production until 1995, but in 13 years, slightly more than 29,000 bikes were produced.
