New Details About the Bentley Torcal
The teaser campaign for the Bentley Torcal is gaining momentum – the company has released a new video showcasing the interior. The ultra-luxury brand has also revealed several new details about its first electric vehicle.
Exterior Design
Starting from the outside, the automaker stated that the crossover will feature a
“jewel-like floating diamond grille that transforms a functional necessity into a captivating design statement – unmistakably Bentley and unlike anything else on the road.”
The video doesn’t provide a very clear view, but the grille is expected to mirror that of the EXP 15 concept.
Rear Lights and Crystal Elements
Bentley also showed off three-dimensional rear lights with a diamond pattern. The sharp shape is a recurring theme for the Torcal, and the company noted that this historic design feature has been
“reimagined for a new era.”
The automaker also announced that it collaborated with Cumbria Crystal to create
“custom handcrafted crystal pieces designed specifically for this project.”
Details are limited, but the company hinted that the crystals will be illuminated, creating
“a unique visual signature rich in depth, movement, and texture.”
Interior and Controls
Setting aside the marketing hyperbole, the crossover will feature sculpted door panels with an interesting ribbed pattern. Also present are fluted climate control knobs and a rotary dial with a start/stop button. These are complemented by physical buttons and dedicated Sport and Comfort modes.
The latest images also offer another look at the crossover’s curved infotainment system. It has a portrait orientation, along with a lower panel that displays climate and seat information.
Steering Wheel and Instrument Panel
While there isn’t much more to see, previous spy photos showed that the model will have a three-spoke steering wheel with wing-shaped paddles similar to the Audi Q3. On the right is the gear selector, on the left is a set of light and wiper stalks.
Wealthy clients will also find a curved digital instrument cluster and round air vents. These will be complemented by real metal accents and a wide wood insert on the passenger side of the dashboard.
Technical Specifications and Release Date
Performance specifications remain a mystery, but the Torcal will be based on the PPE platform used in a range of models, including the Porsche Cayenne Electric. It features a 113 kWh battery, 390 kW DC fast charging capability, and outputs of 435 hp (324 kW), 657 hp (490 kW), and 1139 hp (849 kW). Bentley will likely fall somewhere between the latter two figures, and the company has already confirmed that the model can add 161 km of range in just seven minutes.
The premiere is scheduled for September 23, and the model will arrive in the US in the third quarter of 2027. The expected price will start from $200,000 to $250,000.
For now, Bentley is only revealing individual elements of the Torcal, but it is already clear that the company is betting on unique design and luxury to stand out among other electric SUVs. The use of the PPE platform, already tested on Porsche models, promises high charging speeds and range, though final figures will only be known after the official announcement. The handcrafted crystal work and emphasis on the jewel-like grille suggest that Bentley wants to establish the Torcal not just as an electric vehicle, but as a true work of art on wheels.
