Bentley prepares its first electric car
Bentley plans to introduce its first electric car in 2026. A preview of this model was the EXP 15 concept, which is positioned as a “premium-class sports sedan.” This is a significant change for a brand known for its luxury cars with internal combustion engines.
The concept combines features of a coupe, sedan, and crossover, which is an unusual solution. Designer Robin Page explained:
“We understand the SUV and GT model market, but the sedan segment is currently the most dynamic. Some customers want classic design, others want something more modern. This concept allowed us to explore buyer preferences.”
The final appearance of the concept is controversial – it is barely recognizable as a Bentley, resembling features of Volvo and Jaguar. The company continues to work on the project, presumably taking public feedback into account.
The transition to electric vehicles for premium brands is becoming increasingly obvious. Bentley, like other manufacturers, faces challenges in finding a balance between traditional aesthetics and new technologies. The success of the EXP 15 could define the future design code for the brand’s electric models.
