BMW E34 and Mercedes W124 became stars of the tuning show in Essen (photo)

Essen Motor Show is an international car exhibition held annually in the city of the same name in Germany. It is one of the largest European car shows, where you can often see the best masterpieces of the automotive industry, especially from the world of tuning.

Despite another surge of COVID cases, this year’s tuning show took place, but TopZhyr did not attend it; instead, our colleagues from SpeedHunters visited. They chose the best exhibits, among which were two representatives of the well-known in Ukraine youngtimers – namely BMW E34 and Mercedes W124. Let’s talk about them…

Both cars are creations of the little-known German tuning studio Levella. It specializes in the modern classics of the 80s and 90s – such cars are often called youngtimers. In addition, this company even has its own line of wheels. In general, the guys know a thing or two about tuning and styling. And this Mercedes-Benz E-Class W124 is direct proof of that.

Mercedes W124 E60 Levella

It is equipped with air suspension and Levella Retro R2 wheels on one side and Retro R4 wheels on the other. By the way, pay attention to the wheel arches – they were cut and rebuilt, so while they may seem standard, they are actually much deeper and wider.

The metalwork was performed by Andy Megerle, who also runs a YouTube channel to showcase his talents.

Regarding the technical specifications, this 124 was originally an E400, but the original V8 was replaced with a 6-liter unit from the E60 AMG. By the way, what do you think, how much did such a project cost?

This BMW E34 5 Series received a similar modification – air suspension, new enlarged wheel arches by Andy Megerle, and Levella Retro R1 and R5 wheels on each side. As for the engine, it’s a BMW M50 with turbocharging.

Overall, it might not seem like anything grandiose, but don’t these youngtimers look better than the modern mass-market..?
