New Look for the BMW X1
Spy photographers have captured images of the updated BMW X1, which has likely received a facelift. The model showcases a substantially redesigned exterior, combining elements from the X3 and iX3. In addition to the Neue Klasse front end, the crossover is equipped with retractable door handles.
The Neue Klasse Era Has Begun
BMW officially began the Neue Klasse era with the presentation of the updated iX3 this morning. However, this is just the beginning, as Neue Klasse elements will be integrated into nearly 40 new models and updates by 2027.
Camouflage and Similarity
Photographers have already managed to shoot a number of future cars, including the updated M5 and 2027 X5. Now we see another model, which is likely the facelifted X1. Although identification is usually straightforward, this crossover strongly resembles the X3 with Neue Klasse elements. It features a minimalist grille and a new horizontal light signature, a wide lower air intake, and a new hood with a central indentation.
Design Details
The rear shows integrated door handles and side skirts in the style of the iX3. The model also has new side mirrors, similar to those installed on the X3. The changes continue at the back: an updated rear bumper and light elements, as well as a redesigned tailgate with a changed license plate location.
Interior and Technology
Photographers were unable to peek inside, but the interior will likely be equipped with the Panoramic iDrive system, which includes a full-width display and a 17.9-inch infotainment system.
Unexpected Changes
The scale of the changes is surprising, as the third generation X1 was released only a few years ago. This usually leads to a minor update, but here we see more serious changes than in the updated 5 Series.
Future Expectations
The engines remain unconfirmed but may be carried over from previous versions. More detailed information will become available in the coming months. This indicates that BMW is actively implementing new technologies and design into its models, even in the early stages of their life cycle, which may point to an accelerated evolution of the brand in response to market challenges and customer needs.
