Production End Announcement
BMW has confirmed the release of a special Z4 Final Edition version before the model’s production completely ceases in April 2026. This news was expected after Toyota announced the Supra Final Edition, as these two models have always been closely related.
Final Edition Features
Exterior Appearance and Technical Details
Standard equipment includes the Shadowline package, which darkens the radiator grille, mirror caps, and exhaust pipes. The Moonlight Black soft top emphasizes the overall dark styling, while the bright red M Sport brake calipers create a contrast.
Engine and Transmission
Technically, the Final Edition remains similar to the regular Z4 M40i. The car is equipped with an inline six-cylinder engine producing 382 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The wheels have different sizes: 19-inch front wheels with 255 mm tires, and 20-inch rear wheels with 285 mm tires for better traction.
Transmission Options
Buyers can choose a six-speed manual transmission with unique Handschalter chassis settings, including updated springs, reinforced stabilizers, and reprogrammed control. The eight-speed automatic offers better acceleration performance: 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds versus 4.2 seconds for the manual version.
Price and Availability
The Final Edition price in the United States is $78,675, including delivery. For comparison, the standard Z4 M40i costs $69,575, but considering additional options, the price difference is minimal.
Model’s Future
Despite the end of the joint project with Toyota, which did not show high sales, both brands may continue developing these models. Toyota is already planning a new Supra without BMW’s participation, and the German manufacturer is considering the possibility of creating a sports car on the Neue Klasse platform.
The release of the Final Edition symbolizes the final phase for the Z4, but at the same time opens prospects for future innovations in the sports car segment. This model remains an important milestone in the brand’s history, demonstrating a combination of style, technology, and driving experience.
