BMW Introduces New Apps for M Series Cars
BMW has implemented a set of new built-in applications for its M-indexed models, designed to deepen the driver’s interaction with the car and fully utilize the advantages of the brand’s new operating system. The first to receive these updates will be iX3 models equipped with M Sport or M Sport Pro packages, with subsequent rollout to the entire M lineup.
The updates add a more interactive layer to the BMW high-performance division experience, offering real-time feedback and personalized data visualization right from behind the wheel. These apps are the first wave of digital enhancements specifically tied to the new BMW OS, and they are tailored to the type of driving typically sought by M car owners.

Detailed Real-Time Driving Information
Leading the novelties is the M Cockpit app, which provides a detailed stream of the car’s dynamic data while in motion. Metrics cover everything from chassis behavior to powertrain performance and geolocation statistics.
Key information will include tire pressure and temperature, live power and torque readings, steering angle, altitude, and G-sensor data. Drivers can configure up to five custom dashboards, organizing the data most relevant to their driving style.
Acceleration Measurement and Media Channel
A second app called M Drag Meter has also been introduced. While created specifically for drag strips, it is expected to be actively used in other conditions as well. It captures acceleration and braking metrics, even measuring the driver’s reaction time from a standstill.
Similar to M Cockpit, the Drag Meter interface can be customized, allowing drivers to choose which values and speed intervals they want to track.

New BMW M models are also receiving the M Channel app. This is a specialized M media channel offering on-demand BMW M video content, accessible via the central display. This app also includes several tutorial videos, motorsport content, and various stories that customers can explore.
Expanding the Digital Environment
BMW is also expanding the digital ecosystem beyond the car. Starting in Germany, owners of M models produced from 2014 onwards will gain access to the new BMW M community in the My BMW app. Through this platform, members can access exclusive partner offers, invitations to special events, and communicate directly with other M owners.
“The passion for sporty and highly dynamic driving is what drives the BMW M brand. Our new built-in BMW M apps give drivers an even deeper understanding of their car and expand the range of possible ways to use it. This makes the joy of driving even more tangible in everyday life.”
These digital initiatives clearly demonstrate how BMW is seeking to transform the interaction with the car, turning it from a simple means of transport into a full-fledged connected platform. The emphasis on real-time data and community points to a strategy aimed not only at meeting the needs of driving enthusiasts but also at creating a lasting connection with the brand after purchase. Similar steps could become a new standard for luxury car manufacturers, where digital integration becomes as important a factor as technical specifications.
