A few years ago, the Bavarians announced the release of a new generation M3 wagon, and now it has finally been presented. In fact, aficionados of fast wagons have been waiting for the arrival of the charged “three” Touring for quite a while. Because, in essence, this is the first factory M3 wagon in BMW’s history.

And since this year marks exactly 50 years for the M department, the Germans were bold enough to launch the M3 Touring into series. Like the BMW M4 convertible, the new wagon is offered in a single version with all-wheel drive, which has a long name BMW M3 Competition Touring with MxDrive. This means that under the hood is a turbocharged 3.0-liter (510 hp, 650 Nm) engine that works with an eight-speed “automatic” and M xDrive transmission. The multi-plate clutch connects the front wheels only when necessary, preserving the rear-wheel-drive character.

The car accelerates to a hundred in 3.6 seconds (one-tenth slower than the sedan). The maximum speed is 250 km/h (or 280 km/h with the optional M Driver’s package). The active M-differential is electronically controlled. There is also a drift mode, in which the front drive is disabled along with the stabilization system. For an extra charge, you can order the M Drift Analyzer electronic system, which helps with “sideways driving.” The standard suspension comes with adaptive dampers, and ceramic brakes are offered for an extra charge. The ground clearance is the same 122 mm as in the related M models.

Inside the M3 Touring, a digital dashboard is combined with a large multimedia system screen, sports seats, a traditional gearshift lever, and a rotating “dial” for changing driving modes. The novelty also received electric front seats and tri-zone climate control. The trunk capacity of the car ranges from 500 to 1510 liters.
Production of the car will begin in November this year at the company’s plant in Munich. Global sales of the novelty will also start then. Prices for the car will be announced later, but there is information that the BMW M3 wagon will cost from 98,000 euros at home. As for when this gem will be available in Ukraine, it’s too early to predict… Unfortunately. Among competitors, one of the main rivals of the novelty, of course, is considered to be the Audi RS 4 Avant.
