Limited series for the Canadian market
BMW Canada is releasing a special version of the M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition, limited to one hundred units, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the 3-Series model. This series appears on the eve of the car’s transition to the Neue Klasse platform, which will become the basis for the future i3 sedan.
Unique colors and design
The series features an exclusive palette of six paints, each of which references a specific generation of the 3-Series: Madeira Red Metallic, Laguna Green Metallic, Avus Blue Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, Deep Green Metallic, and Citrin Black Metallic. The colors are borrowed from the BMW Individual catalog and cover the period from the original E21 to the modern G20.
The car also received an M Sport body kit, forged 20-inch wheels with Y-shaped spokes, an M Performance exhaust system, and special “50 Jahre Edition” badges on the rear doors.
Interior and technical features
The interior uses Merino leather from the BMW Individual collection in black or white. The cupholder lid features a plaque with the inscription “3-Series 50 Jahre Edition,” and similar inserts are present on the sills.
Performance remains unchanged compared to the standard M340i xDrive: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, making it the fastest version of the 3-Series, aside from the full-fledged M3.
Engine and transmission
Under the hood remains the familiar turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with an output of 386 hp and a torque of 540 Nm. The drive is all-wheel (xDrive) with a rear-biased axle, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Production and availability
Production of the M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition began in Germany this month. Only 100 cars will be produced, intended exclusively for Canadian buyers.
This limited series demonstrates how BMW honors the history of its most successful model without making radical changes to the technical part. The approach emphasizes that the M340i is already a well-balanced car that does not require additional improvements. The chosen colors and trim details make the series unique for collectors and brand enthusiasts, especially in the context of the upcoming Neue Klasse innovations.
