Celebrating the M3 Anniversary with a Special M4 Edition
BMW is celebrating four decades of the iconic M3 coupe by introducing a special anniversary series. To mark the occasion, the company has announced the 2027 model called the M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition. Currently, this version is intended exclusively for the Canadian market, and its production will be extremely limited.
The key features of this edition are:
Design and Exterior
The most noticeable exterior changes are the new 826M-style alloy wheels with an exclusive gold-bronze finish, as seen on the M4 CS version. Additionally, special M graphic elements have appeared on the hood and rear quarter panels, giving the car a racing look while still appearing stylish and expensive.
Customers will be able to order the car in three heritage colors, each with a rich history in the brand: Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue Metallic, or Imola Red II.
Interior and Equipment
The interior of each anniversary model is upholstered in black Merino leather, and the instrument panel is covered in Nappa leather. Standard equipment also includes the M Driver’s Package, carbon fiber decorative inserts, and an M leather-Alcantara steering wheel, the same as in the M4 CS and CSL versions.
Price and Availability
The stated price for the special edition based on the standard M4 Coupe is 115,500 Canadian dollars, while the version based on the M4 Competition Coupe will start from 124,500 Canadian dollars. The first cars will arrive at dealerships in the third quarter.
Questions for Other Markets
There is currently no official information about supplying this anniversary model to the US market. However, a similar situation has occurred before with the M340i 50 Jahre Edition, which was initially presented as an exclusive for Canada but appeared in the US as a limited series two weeks later. Therefore, it is quite possible that such a scenario could repeat with the M4 Legacy Edition.
Limited series dedicated to anniversaries always generate special interest among collectors and brand enthusiasts. The fact that an edition is initially intended for only one market often only fuels hype around the model in other regions. The story with colors returning from the past is a good marketing move that appeals to nostalgia and emphasizes generational continuity. Such steps allow BMW to maintain high interest in its products even between model cycles, demonstrating respect for its own history and loyalty to traditions.
