BMW to release 70 unique Speedtop shooting brakes (photos)

At the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este automotive festival, BMW unveiled the all-new Speedtop sports car. This is an extremely rare body type for the modern automotive industry (shooting brake), and the production run is minimal—only 70 units worldwide!

The novelty is based on the production BMW 8-Series, although most of the exterior body panels have a unique shape. Only the structural elements remain unchanged. The Speedtop stands out with its refined design featuring soft contours, powerful stampings above the rear wheel arches, and an aggressive front-end slope. Elegance is further enhanced by hidden door handles integrated into chrome moldings and frameless side windows.

The front end and lighting were borrowed from the Skytop roadster, introduced last year.

Inside, the configuration is 2+2: the rear seats are designed for shorter passengers, typical for sports models. The interior features natural leather in Sundown Maroon and Moonstone White shades.

The luggage compartment is also lined with leather—and for good reason, as the car comes with two exclusive handcrafted suitcases from the Italian brand Schedoni. The dashboard remains unchanged—just like in the production 8-Series—while the glass gear selector is from BMW’s official accessories catalog.

The official specifications of the powertrain have not been disclosed, but insiders report that under the hood lies the familiar 4.4-liter V8 from the BMW M8 Competition, producing 617 hp and 750 Nm of torque. The perfect recipe for a high-speed journey with luggage and style.
