British low-volume sports car manufacturer Keating Supercars has introduced a new model called “The Bolt.” According to the brand, this hypercar will set a new world speed record—540 kilometers per hour!
The run will take place in October of this year in the United Arab Emirates. The company intends to use an upgraded version of Chevrolet’s seven-liter V8, which will be equipped with two turbochargers, boosting output to approximately 2,500 horsepower. The rear-wheel-drive supercar’s powertrain will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Keating’s previous supercar—the 1,750-horsepower TKR coupe—set a speed record in 2009, reaching 416 kilometers per hour. Later, the 1,200-horsepower hypercar Bugatti Veyron Super Sport achieved 431 kilometers per hour, but Guinness World Records stripped the car of its title as the world’s fastest due to violations in the record-setting conditions.
Now, that title belongs to the American coupe Hennessey Venom GT, capable of reaching 427 kilometers per hour.
The British supercar “The Bolt” features an aluminum space frame, carbon and Kevlar body panels, as well as powerful brakes and a suspension specially tuned for ultra-high speeds. For the production version of Keating’s “The Bolt,” which weighs 990 kilograms, several variants of the eight-cylinder engine will be available: 640, 750, and 800 horsepower. Additionally, versions capable of delivering 1,000–2,500 horsepower will also be offered. Customers can also provide the manufacturer with any other engine of their choice.
Preliminary data suggests that the 800-horsepower model will accelerate from 0 to 96 kilometers per hour in 2 seconds. This version will cost the British £750,000 (approximately €895,000).
