“Boulder” is Hyundai’s answer to the Ford Bronco

Premiere at the auto show

Hyundai announced “something big” for this year’s New York Auto Show and fully lived up to expectations. The Korean automaker unveiled the rugged Boulder concept SUV, executed in the style of the Ford Bronco. This model is developed on the basis of a mid-size pickup truck, the launch of which is planned for next year.

Off-road equipment

The vehicle is equipped with massive 37-inch tires, wide wheel arches, and has high ground clearance. A characteristic feature has become the so-called safari windows. Such an exterior creates the impression that the car is ready for any terrain. The body-on-frame construction should provide genuine off-road potential, matching its appearance.

This is a developing news story and will be updated.

The appearance of such a concept from Hyundai clearly indicates the brand’s desire to strengthen its position in the utilitarian SUV market, traditionally occupied by American manufacturers. The use of the platform of the future pickup truck speaks to the seriousness of intentions and the possibility of a quick transition from concept to production model. The success of similar vehicles, like the Ford Bronco, demonstrates significant demand, and Hyundai seems eager to offer its alternative, combining familiar rugged aesthetics with modern technology and approach. This could significantly expand the brand’s audience and fill a gap in its model lineup.
