The father of the McLaren F1, Gordon Murray, has unveiled a supercar of his own design. The new Gordon Murray T.50 turned out to be very unconventional.
In terms of design, the coupe greatly resembles the McLaren F1. It has a similar profile, and the doors lift upwards. The original hood cover consists of two parts.
The carbon coupe weighs only 986 kg.
But the most unusual design feature is the fan at the back. The fact is that the Gordon Murray T.50 has ground effect. This fan sucks air from under the body and creates a vacuum. As a result, the car sticks to the road.
The three-seat cabin with the driver in the center is another feature borrowed from the McLaren F1. Instead of rear-view mirrors, cameras are installed.
Cosworth developed a 3.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 for the supercar, capable of revving up to 12,100 rpm. It produces 663 hp and 467 Nm, and briefly in sport mode, 700 hp are available. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and there are also active suspension and ceramic brakes.
Only one hundred Gordon Murray T.50s will be produced. The price of the supercar is $3.1 million. By the way, the successor to the McLaren F1 from McLaren itself turned out to be cheaper.
