Updated Buick GL8 Land Business Class for the Chinese Market
Buick has introduced an updated version of its GL8 Land Business Class minivan in China. The model has received a modern design, an updated interior, and a number of technological improvements. The base trim price starts at ¥229,900 (approximately $32,073).
Externally, the car is executed in the new Pure design language, which includes slim LED headlights, a wide radiator grille, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Also standard are power sliding doors, tinted windows, and a sunroof.
Technical Updates and Comfort
The interior features a new instrument panel with two 12.3-inch screens, an updated steering wheel, and a redesigned center console. The gear selector is now located on the steering column, freeing up space.
The second-row VIP seats are equipped with adjustable armrests, a reclining function, and a special damper that reduces the likelihood of motion sickness.
Among other updates are an improved voice control system, remote climate control, and larger airbags. Sound insulation has been improved through the use of double-pane acoustic glass and additional sound-absorbing materials.
Technical changes also affected the suspension – instead of a torsion beam, an independent four-link system is now used, which is expected to improve ride comfort. The engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit producing 233 hp, accelerating the minivan to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds.
Despite its accessible price, the updated GL8 Land Business Class offers a level of comfort previously characteristic of premium models. Special attention to details, such as the motion sickness reduction system, could be a decisive argument for family buyers. The manufacturer is clearly trying to maintain its leading position in a segment where competition is particularly fierce.
