BYD has shown the Yangwang U9 02 – a test hypercar that almost breaks through the ceiling of common sense: 2978 hp (2220 kW). This is officially the “most powerful car in the world.” The car received four electric motors of 555 kW each, so there are 1200 hp per ton of weight – even the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut looks more modest with its 986 hp/t. It’s no wonder that the previous prototype accelerated to 472.41 km/h and set a world speed record for an electric vehicle.
The highlight of BYD is the 1200-volt architecture, which allows the motors to deliver stable power even at insane speeds. The DiSus-X system “levels” the body in real time so that the car not only flies but also obediently enters turns. To keep such a machine on the track, specially developed semi-slick tires were installed, capable of withstanding speeds of up to 500 km/h.
There are no technical details about the 02 version yet, nor a launch date, but it is obvious that the Chinese have decided not just to play with hypercars – they want to rewrite the rules of the game and challenge everyone, from Tesla to Koenigsegg.
