Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Could Be Reborn as an Electric Crossover with Three Motors and Hypercar Power

New Chevrolet Camaro as an Electric Crossover

Chevrolet plans to bring back the iconic Camaro model, but as an electric crossover. According to reports, the new model could appear in the fall of 2026 and become a competitor for the Mustang Mach-E. Among the possible options is a powerful ZL1 version with three electric motors and around 1000 hp.

Despite previous information about the development of a sedan to replace the Camaro and Malibu, new data points to a crossover. The car will likely be built on the Ultium platform and receive battery packs from the Blazer EV – 85 or 102 kWh.

Technical Features

Base versions may offer 365 hp for rear-wheel-drive modifications and 300 hp for all-wheel-drive ones. A more powerful SS version with 615 hp is also expected. The most interesting option could be the ZL1, which will inherit technologies from the GMC Hummer EV – three motors and over 1000 hp.

Full information about the new model remains unofficial for now. However, if Chevrolet indeed implements these plans, the electric vehicle market will get a truly “charged” competitor. The possibility of a high-performance version that will surpass many modern sports models is particularly impressive.
