Chevrolet Onix receives an update for the 2026 model year
Chevrolet has introduced updated versions of its popular Onix and Onix Plus models for the Brazilian market. These cars, which occupy a niche below crossovers, have received noticeable changes in design and technology. The facelift includes an updated front end with a sportier radiator grille and modified headlights, which now offer fully LED lighting in higher trim levels.
The changes affected not only the exterior. The manufacturer notes that the new bumper improves approach angles, and the LED headlights have become 61% brighter. The rear end has remained almost unchanged, except for clear lens taillights and a more pronounced diffuser on the hatchback version.
Updated interior and technical specifications
The interior has undergone significant changes: a new 8-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11-inch multimedia system screen. Standard equipment now includes six airbags, wireless internet, and a keyless entry system. More expensive versions have added wireless smartphone charging, climate control, and an automatic parking system.
The RS version remains the sportiest, offering black accents, 16-inch wheels, and a rear spoiler. To celebrate Chevrolet’s 100th anniversary in Brazil, a special edition with darker elements is planned for release.
The technical part remains unchanged: both models are offered with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine in two variants – naturally aspirated (80-82 hp) and turbocharged (116-121 hp). Transmission options are a six-speed manual or automatic. Prices start from 102,990 Brazilian reals (approximately $18,500) for the hatchback.
The updated models are already available for order in Brazil, where they have traditionally been popular among buyers looking for an affordable but technologically equipped car. A special emphasis in the new version has been placed on safety and comfort, making it more competitive against rivals such as the Volkswagen Polo and Fiat Argo.
