Man Wins New Corvette In Raffle, Sells It For Just $58 Thousand A Month Later

Market for Low-Mileage Chevrolet Corvette C8

Demand for low-mileage Chevrolet Corvette C8 continues to weaken. This is not the best news for those trying to sell their car, but a great opportunity for buyers looking for a good deal.

Deal Details

Earlier this week, a clean 2025 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with only 1,480 miles was sold at the Cars & Bids auction for $58,500, even though the starting MSRP for the 2025 model is $69,995.

Warranty Be Damned, New Corvette ZR1 Flipped For $70,000 Profit

This Stingray model is interesting because it’s rare to see a simplified version with a minimal set of options. As a 1LT model, it lacks some luxury elements characteristic of the 2LT and 3LT trim levels, such as heated and ventilated seat memory, a heads-up display, or the available 14-speaker Bose audio system.

Lack of Z51 Package

Additionally, the car is not equipped with the popular Z51 package, which includes improved brakes, a new exhaust system, modified aerodynamic elements, and a stiffer suspension.

This is the simplest version of the Corvette Stingray that can be purchased, but importantly, it provides the same driving impressions as the more expensive versions with all possible options. For purists, the simple Stingray 1LT might be the perfect choice.

Car History

The mid-engine car was sold through Cars & Bids after the Rotary Club of Tucson purchased it in late 2024. Last month, it was raffled off, and the seller turned out to be the lucky winner. Thus, he received a net profit of $58,500, and the buyer got a great deal.

Comparison with Honda Prelude

Considering the performance offered by the C8 Corvette, even in the base Stingray version, buying such a car for less than $60,000 is a real find.

As hard as it might be for some enthusiasts to believe, there are buyers in the US who spend similar amounts on a new Honda Prelude, which is explained by inflated dealer markups. Of course, it’s a new model, and it has the advantage of freshness, but even so.

The Stingray not only has 2.5 times more power than the Prelude but also accelerates to 60 mph (96 km/h) approximately 2.5 times faster, reaching this mark in 2.9 seconds compared to about 8 seconds for the Prelude, or 7.2 seconds if using all available methods.

This situation illustrates how quickly the market can change even for such iconic models as the Corvette. On one hand, it might be a sign of market oversaturation; on the other hand, it’s an opportunity for car enthusiasts to get a technologically advanced sports car at a more affordable price. Such deals also show how important base versions of cars remain, as they preserve key characteristics but make them more accessible to a wider range of buyers.
