Florida police stopped a driver who was traveling at over 145 km/h with 34 open cans of alcohol inside the vehicle
Florida has long been known for its strange road incidents, but even by this state’s standards, this case stands out. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), officers stopped a Honda Civic for speeding and discovered inside the vehicle enough open White Claw cans to fill a small backyard party.
The most astonishing part of this story is not the fact of possible intoxication itself, but that the driver managed to place 34 open cans on the passenger seat and still had room to steer.
Circumstances of the arrest
The incident occurred on June 13 on Interstate I-75 near mile marker 280 in Pasco County. According to the FHP report, a trooper spotted a Honda Civic traveling at over 90 miles per hour (145 km/h) and subsequently stopped the vehicle. During the conversation, the officer determined that the driver appeared heavily intoxicated and noticed dozens of open containers of alcohol inside the cabin.
Photographs released by the patrol service show a striking accumulation of open (and presumably empty) White Claw cans scattered throughout the front passenger area. Investigators counted 34 cans. The driver was identified as 34-year-old Connor William Paradi from San Antonio, Florida. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, then transported to the Pasco County Jail.

According to the FHP, Paradi later took a blood alcohol content test, which showed 0.117. The legal limit for most drivers in Florida is 0.08, meaning the result was nearly 50 percent above the allowable threshold.
Calculations and consequences
If we run the numbers in reverse, considering these indicators and the average weight of a 34-year-old man, most blood alcohol level calculators would conclude that he likely consumed between eight and ten cans or the equivalent amount of alcohol by the time of testing. Exactly how much he drank depends on how long the consumption lasted, and given the 34 empty cans, this trip could have been much longer than we can imagine. The best news in this situation is that no one was hurt, and another person who endangered others has temporarily been removed from the road.
This case serves as yet another reminder of how serious the consequences of neglecting road safety rules can be. Driving under the influence of alcohol is not only punishable by law but also poses a deadly threat to the driver, passengers, and other road users. The fact that this story ended without tragedy can be considered a true miracle, as the combination of high speed and large amounts of alcohol almost always leads to catastrophic outcomes. It is worth noting that such incidents often become subjects of widespread discussion on social media, provoking both outrage and astonishment at the recklessness of certain drivers. Florida law enforcement agencies continue to actively combat impaired driving by conducting regular patrols and strengthening penalties for violators, which should help improve road safety in the state.
