Work at a car dealership is usually calm, but for one employee in Atlanta, an ordinary day turned into a terrifying experience. When a client left his car for service, he allegedly kidnapped a female consultant, leaving his own child in the dealership.
The incident occurred last week at the RBM of Alpharetta dealership, located in Forsyth County, near Atlanta. The client came in for scheduled maintenance and was supposed to receive a temporary vehicle. He asked a female employee to show him the car’s features, but when she got into the car, the man allegedly drove her away against her will.
The woman begged to return to the dealership, but he continued driving for about 40 minutes
Inappropriate Questions and an Escape Attempt
During the ride, the client asked the woman personal questions about her private life, relationships, and appearance. He also took her phone, called himself to get her contacts, and asked her out on a date.
Fortunately, the victim was not physically harmed and was able to return to the dealership. Police detained the suspect as he was trying to flee with the child. He was identified as 39-year-old Barinuadum Bariijigu from Roswell, Georgia. He now faces charges of kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, and obstruction of justice.
This case is yet another reminder of the importance of workplace safety. Even in routine situations, such as handing over a car to a client, it is worth being cautious. Police recommend always informing colleagues of your plans and avoiding situations where you have to be alone with strangers in an enclosed space.
