Four Car Categories Lead Sales of New Cars in the USA

Popularity of Compact Crossovers in the USA

In 2025, American buyers continue to prefer compact crossovers. According to data from the first five months of the year, this segment holds a 21% share of the new car market. The sales leader was the Honda CR-V with 175,246 units, followed by the Toyota RAV4 (161,411 cars) and the Chevrolet Equinox (107,192 cars).

In total, there are 26 models in the compact crossover category, with the three leaders accounting for 40% of the total sales volume. Among other popular options are the Subaru Forester, Kia Sportage, and Nissan Rogue.

Other Successful Segments

Among other popular categories are full-size pickups and midsize SUVs. For example, the Jeep Grand Cherokee sold 75,218 units, and the Ford F-Series remains the leader in the truck segment with a result of 128,011 cars.

The US car market remains dynamic, and the demand for crossovers and pickups confirms the trends of recent years. At the same time, some categories, such as full-size pickups, are showing a slight decrease in market share compared to previous years. This may be due to increased competition from electric vehicles and changes in consumer preferences.
