Chrysler Introduces the 2027 Pacifica with Design from the Halcyon Concept and Automatic Doors

Expectations for the Chrysler Update

For now, we are waiting for a true Chrysler revival that will confirm that stylish concepts, such as the 2024 electric Halcyon, are more than just promises. In the meantime, we will have to make do with an updated version of the aging Pacifica minivan, which was first photographed by our team of photographers.

Pacifica Model History

The Pacifica debuted in 2016 and received a minor update for the 2021 model year, but this latest modernization promises to be more significant. Although the basic structure of the Toyota Sienna competitor has remained unchanged, the dense camouflage film on the prototype’s nose conceals a new front-end look that seems to borrow ideas from the Halcyon.

Influence of the Halcyon Concept

A sharp front edge of the nose can be seen overhanging a recessed front section, giving the Pacifica a much more expressive look. LED headlights are visible at each corner, and is that a large illuminated Chrysler logo in the center of the gray camouflage section? It appears so, which would be logical, considering the Halcyon showcased something similar. The changes at the rear seem to be less radical, possibly limited to new graphics for the LED taillights, unless Chrysler has prepared a surprise under the D-pillar cover.

Interior Updates

Judging by the coverings on the dashboard visible through the window and signs of a larger touchscreen, surprises await us inside the updated Pacifica.

Getting into the cabin this time might be more interesting if we have interpreted the sticker on the sliding doors correctly. It seems to indicate that drivers will be able to open the sliding doors with a foot gesture under the sill, making life easier when hands are full with children or shopping bags. Provided the technology works – it has been used in trunk lids for years but often operates inconsistently.

Powertrains

These images provide no hints as to what is under the hood of the new Pacifica, which currently offers a choice between a 287 hp V6 or a 260 hp V6 hybrid version.

Stellantis has a powerful new 324 hp Hurricane 4 Turbo engine that delivers more power than the V6 with four cylinders and is also compatible with a hybrid system. This would be a great option if the retooling costs are not too high. The 2026 Pacifica model is already presented and retains the previous design, so the new Pacifica is expected to appear next year as a 2027 model, and it would be logical for Chrysler to give its more affordable brother, the Voyager, similar updates.

The Pacifica update reflects the general trend among automakers to gradually improve existing models while all-new electric platforms are being developed. The introduction of technologies such as gesture-controlled door opening could be an important step in enhancing convenience for family vehicles, especially in the face of growing competition in the minivan market. The success of these innovations will largely depend on their reliability and affordability for the mass consumer.
