Many modern cars have a space saver spare instead of a full-size spare tire. You can’t go far with such a wheel, and you can’t drive fast either. Some cars don’t even have a spare wheel at all – just a tire repair kit. And let’s not forget that the quality of roads in our country, to put it mildly, leaves much to be desired. For these and other reasons, having a car compressor on hand is not a luxury, but a necessity.
Additionally, inflating tires at a tire service, while not a huge expense, is still a waste of money, and it’s not always possible to check pressure and inflate a deflated tire at gas stations.
How to Choose a Car Compressor
First, decide what you need it for. If it’s only for emergencies and strictly for inflating car tires, a regular low-performance compressor will suffice. If it’s for a commercial vehicle, you’ll need something more powerful. And if you plan to use it for household purposes (inflating air mattresses and pools), it makes sense to look at powerful devices, such as the Belavto car compressor.
The price depends on the performance and type of compressor (diaphragm or piston). Diaphragm compressors are smaller in size but are not very productive – they are designed for inflating passenger car tires with a wheel radius of no more than R17, but they are portable and can be connected to a cigarette lighter.
Piston car compressors are much more powerful but take up significantly more space. It’s reasonable to buy them if you need to inflate not only car tires but also boats and more. In such cases, they can be dual-motor (piston and rotary).
Tips for Choosing
It is certainly more convenient to take a compressor with a pressure gauge, and in the case of using it for a car, it’s advisable to choose models with emergency lights and a flashlight – for all occasions, so to speak. Another point is the length of the hose, don’t forget about it, considering the size of the vehicle and the location of the cigarette lighter to which it is planned to be connected.
