In December 2023, Trevor Milton, founder and former CEO of Nikola, was convicted of securities fraud and deceit. During this time, many events occurred, and he released a press statement claiming that he received a pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump himself. Additionally, Milton is preparing a documentary film that promises to delve into the scandals surrounding the company.
However, at the time of publication, there is no evidence of this pardon on the U.S. Department of Justice website, and Trump has not mentioned it on his social network Truth Social. The White House also did not respond to multiple requests for comments from publications such as and .
Milton, who is out on bail since his sentencing, is persistently appealing the court decision on his imprisonment. The entrepreneur has long defended his innocence, and in an upcoming YouTube documentary, he promises to tell his side of the story.
“This pardon is not just about me—it’s about every American who has been victimized by the government, and sadly, there are many of them,” said Milton. “It’s no wonder trust in the Department of Justice has dwindled to zero. I wish judges would stop believing everything prosecutors tell them so Americans can trust the justice system again. Until this happens, our legal system will continue to decay to the point of nonexistence.”
“The 90% conviction rate in New York is horrible and is a result of prosecutors getting everything they want and putting innocent people behind bars,” he added. “I’ve seen firsthand the tactics they use to secure guaranteed convictions. I’m incredibly grateful to President Trump for his courage in defending justice and for granting me this holy pardon of innocence.”
The documentary “Conviction of Conspiracy: The Trevor Milton Saga” was directed by British filmmaker Mark Soldinger. The film’s preview states it will reveal “the essence of public scandal, legal maneuvering, and unseen dynamics that influenced the outcome” of this case.
It seems the film was produced by Milton himself, and the trailer was released on his personal YouTube channel. Whether it will present an accurate representation of what happened remains to be seen, but it will be interesting to see the “behind the scenes.”
