Mercedes-AMG is actively testing a high-performance modification of the new electric GLC EQ SUV. The prototype was captured during testing in Germany, allowing for photos of both the exterior and interior. Preliminary rumors indicate that this version may receive a three-electric motor system with a power of about 940 hp.

Exterior Differences of the AMG Version

In September at the auto show in Munich, Mercedes presented the electric GLC, which, according to experts, was inferior in dynamics to the BMW iX3. However, the AMG version promises to compensate for this shortcoming with a more aggressive design. Among the key changes are a wider track, large-diameter alloy wheels, and an active spoiler on the rear door. The production model is also expected to receive a rear diffuser.

Interior Details and Technical Expectations

Photographers managed to capture the interior of the prototype, where sports seats with red and black trim stand out. It is assumed that door panels and the central armrest will receive similar styling. The start of production is scheduled for mid-2026.

The standard GLC 400 4Matic version is equipped with two electric motors with a power of 483 hp and a 94 kWh battery, providing up to 713 km of range. However, the AMG modification is likely to use three Yasa axial motors, allowing it to compete with supercars in terms of dynamic performance.

Market Prospects and Technological Context

Premium electric SUVs are increasingly focusing on high performance indicators. The planned power of the AMG GLC EQ exceeds most analogues, which could become a new standard for compact SUVs. Axial motor technology, previously presented in the Vision Iconic GT concept, provides a better power-to-weight ratio. This development demonstrates how traditional brands are adapting their high-performance DNA to the demands of the electric vehicle era.
