Cupra Updated the Tavascan with Modern Screens and Smart Ventilation Systems

New Available Version

Cupra has temporarily suspended plans to enter the American market, but this has not stopped the brand from continuing to improve its models. For example, the updated Tavascan electric crossover will hit the market this summer.

The main news of the update was the appearance of a new, more affordable version. It is equipped with a 58 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor producing 188 hp. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed all the details but promises that this version will provide an “exciting driving experience” and a range of about 435 kilometers.

The price of the new version has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be significantly lower than the existing Endurance and VZ trims. Those models use a larger 77 kWh battery and are much more powerful: 282 hp and 335 hp respectively.

The Endurance and VZ trims, by the way, have received a new Launch Control function. Furthermore, all Tavascan versions now have a one-pedal driving mode, where regenerative braking activates as soon as the driver lifts their foot off the accelerator pedal.

Interior Updates and New Technologies

The crossover’s interior has undergone significant changes. It now features a larger, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a new multimedia system based on Android OS. The latter promises a more intuitive interface and access to popular apps.

Despite the focus on technology, Cupra has added some “old-school” elements—the new steering wheel has physical buttons. This is a positive change, although the car’s touch sliders remain.

The climate control has also become smarter. The crossover has received new electric ventilation deflectors that can activate even before the driver gets into the car. The system recognizes the approach of the key and begins pre-circulating air. Once passengers are inside, the deflectors automatically adjust the airflow direction, taking into account the person’s seating position and the sun’s position. They can also be controlled via voice commands.

In addition to the smart deflectors, the updated Tavascan has received digital key technology. Owners can unlock, start the engine, or grant access to the car to others simply from their smartphone. One “key” is assigned to the owner, and up to four more can be shared with others.

For audiophiles, a new premium audio system from Sennheiser with Contrabass technology has appeared in the car. It uses psychoacoustic methods to create deep low frequencies, forming a rich and spacious sound.

Other Changes and Innovations

In terms of exterior, there have been no major updates, except for the appearance of a new paint color called Dark Void. This deep purple shade, according to the manufacturer, emphasizes the Tavascan’s sculptural forms and enhances its progressive identity.

The last, but not least, novelty is the vehicle-to-load function. Using a special adapter that connects to the charging port, the car can be turned into a huge powerbank to power various devices.

The Cupra Tavascan update clearly shows the trend of democratizing electric vehicles through the appearance of more affordable versions, while simultaneously saturating them with advanced, and sometimes extremely complex, technologies. The emphasis on physical buttons alongside smart ventilation deflectors is an interesting example of the search for balance between traditional and innovative approaches. The success of this strategy will depend on how flawlessly all these systems work in real-world use and whether the new base version meets buyers’ expectations regarding the reduced price.
