It’s an electric hatchback that the VW ID.3 would never want to see on the roads

Cupra Born Update: What Will Change?

The Cupra Born is one of the brightest compact electric cars on the market. It is built on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID.3 but differs with a more emotional design and higher quality interior. Now the car is preparing for a facelift, which will affect the exterior and, possibly, the technical part.

Despite the fact that the Born and ID.3 are almost identical technically (even their doors are interchangeable), Cupra offers a more sporting character. The camouflage on the test specimens hides the details, but it is already clear that the bumpers, radiator grille, and optics will change. The rear diffuser will also receive a new design with an emphasis on aggressiveness.

“The Cupra Born is one of our favorite small EVs. It takes the competent but slightly ordinary and adds some sparkle to the exterior design and interior quality…”

Technical Features

The update is not expected to affect the door panels, but other body elements will be modified. In 2024, the Born already received a new 12.9-inch touchscreen system, so the interior will likely remain unchanged. The model range includes versions with power from 201 to 332 hp, and the longest-range version on a single charge — the VZ — can travel up to 590 km.

Although the Cupra Born already looks modern, the brand continues to improve it to emphasize its sporting character. Unlike the ID.3, it offers an e-boost function for additional power, making it more interesting for those looking not just for an electric car, but for driving emotions.
