This Could Be the Most Expensive Ferrari F40 in the World

Rare Ferrari F40 LM Prepares for Auction

The Ferrari F40 has long been considered a legend, but its racing version, the F40 LM, belongs to the category of true automotive myths. This model was created for competitions in Europe and North America, making it one of the rarest in the Italian manufacturer’s lineup.

One of the 19 F40 LM specimens, namely chassis number 14, will be sold at auction during Monterey Car Week. This GTC version is the most powerful among all F40s, and its expected price is between $8.5 and $9.5 million.

History of the Racing Car

The first owner of this car was Swiss Walter Hagmann, who owned it until 2002. After a series of resales, the F40 LM participated in races in Italy, France, Spain, and the Czech Republic. In 2014, the car was returned to the Michelotto factory for a complete restoration, including the engine and gearbox.

Auction house RM Sotheby’s reports that prior to the sale, the car received new fuel tanks, belts, and filters, as well as special Michelin racing tires.

The LM version differs not only in power but also in weight – it is 317 kg lighter than the standard F40. Thanks to modifications, the 2.9-liter engine produces 289 hp more than the base model.

This specimen has already had several collectors from Las Vegas, Germany, and Austria. For those who value rare and powerful cars, the F40 LM could be a real find, although its cost could significantly impact the buyer’s financial plans.
