This Could Be the Fastest Version of the Model Y, Which Tesla Is Silent About

New Tesla Model Y Performance: Expected Specifications

For many drivers, even the base version of the Tesla Model Y is already quite powerful and dynamic. However, for those seeking true performance, the standard version is not enough. Fortunately, Tesla is preparing an updated Model Y Performance for such buyers.

The automaker has been testing the new version for several months, which is likely to receive the same powertrain as the Model 3 Performance. Recently, a camouflaged prototype was spotted on the legendary Nürburgring track, although its speed did not allow for an assessment of its real potential.

Technical Features

As with the Model 3 Performance, the new version of the crossover will receive two electric motors with a combined output of 510 hp and 554 lb-ft of torque. Due to its larger dimensions and weight, the Model Y will be slightly slower, but acceleration to 60 mph (96 km/h) will take about 3.2 seconds—this is 0.3 seconds faster than the previous model.

If Tesla decides to officially measure the lap time on the Nürburgring, it will likely be around eight minutes.

Externally, the Model Y Performance will be distinguished by more aggressive bumpers and a spoiler. The presentation is expected to take place by the end of 2023, with a starting price of approximately $55,000.

Despite the fact that Tesla does not often emphasize the track capabilities of its models, the updated Model Y Performance could be an interesting option for those who want to combine everyday driving with dynamics. Especially considering that the company’s electric vehicles traditionally show good results in acceleration and handling.
