That MINI Worth Diving Into

Specialists from the off-road preparation company Delta4x4, together with the Dakar-winning X-Raid team, have presented a unique version of the Mini Countryman with widened wheel arches and increased off-road capability. For now, it’s just a concept, but the manufacturer does not rule out a limited production run if there is sufficient demand.

The standard Mini Countryman is perceived as an urban crossover, but thanks to these modifications, it has been transformed into a true off-roader while retaining its ability to drive on public roads. Delta4x4 and X-Raid have previously showcased a modified version of this model with new wheels, tires, suspension, and bright orange decals, but now they have gone even further.

From a Joke to a Serious Project

As X-Raid tells it, the idea to create such a car initially seemed like a joke but quickly grew into a real project. The most noticeable changes are the wheel arches widened by 200 mm (7.9 inches). A protective bar is installed at the front, and additional LED lights on the radiator grille and roof significantly improve visibility in the dark.

The roof now features a luggage rack for carrying equipment, such as ski tracks, a spare wheel, or additional canisters. Storage compartments have also been added on the rear side windows, along with decorative straps on the hood and tailgate. The body is wrapped in a matte gray film with bright orange graphic elements.

The car’s suspension has been raised by 50 mm (2 inches), which, combined with 18-inch Delta4x4 Hanma wheels and Loder off-road tires, significantly improves its off-road capability. Although no official announcements have been made about changes to the powertrain, the renders depict an electric Countryman SE version with two motors producing 308 hp (230 kW) and a 66.5 kWh battery providing a range of 341 km. However, the modifications are likely compatible with any version, including the hybrid with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine.

Possible Limited Production

For now, it’s just a concept, but the companies do not rule out small-scale production if there is demand. Despite its aggressive look, the car remains suitable for public roads. Rumors about the possibility of similar modifications for other Mini models have also surfaced earlier, but no detailed information is available yet.
