Legendary Subaru WRX STI Spec C Put Up for Auction
The Subaru Impreza WRX has many modifications, and the Spec C is one of the rarest. This version, based on the second generation, was only available in Japan and was intended for participation in WRC Group N races. It features a lightweight body and special modifications for enhanced performance.
The specimen being auctioned in the UK has retained its original steel wheels, making it special. The 2006 model year car is in good condition, has not been in any accidents, and has a mileage of over 64,000 km. To reduce weight, Subaru engineers installed thinner glass, aluminum panels, and even a special roof vent for cabin ventilation.
Technical Features and Auction
Under the hood of the Spec C is a 2.0-liter turbocharged EJ207 engine, paired with a six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The car also received a suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers, reinforced subframes, and thicker stabilizer bars.
This specimen is likely one of the few imported from Japan. Its auction price is expected to be between £20,000 and £25,000. The bidding will take place on August 23rd at the Silverstone circuit.
The Spec C remains an iconic car for Subaru enthusiasts, combining lightness, power, and unique technical solutions. Its rarity and historical significance make it a valuable specimen for collectors.
