Ford Electric Pickup Sets Record at Goodwood
The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed featured an incredible collection of rare and powerful cars. However, the fastest result was not set by a conventional supercar, but by the Ford SuperTruck electric pickup. Driver Romain Dumas completed the course in 43.23 seconds, setting the absolute event record.
This electric monster is equipped with three motors that together produce over 1600 horsepower. The aerodynamic body kit provides 6000 pounds of downforce at a speed of 240 km/h. Despite the Lightning name, this concept has little in common with Ford’s production models.
New Production Car Record
The achievement of Koenigsegg deserves special attention. Their Sadair’s Spear, a modified version of the Jesko, set a new record for production cars – 47.14 seconds. This is a full second better than the previous achievement of the Czinger 21C.
These results show how electric and hybrid technologies are changing the perception of motorsport. It is especially impressive that a pickup truck was able to outperform specialized racing cars. Such achievements become possible thanks to the combination of powerful electric motors and advanced aerodynamic solutions.
