by The Chinese automaker Avatr is preparing to unveil a new shooting brake estate wagon called the 06T. This model will become a more spacious and practical version of the Avatr 06 electric sedan, which itself is a competitor to the Tesla Model 3.
Design and Exterior
One teaser image confirmed the model name and allowed for an assessment of its silhouette. The front part of the car, including the split LED headlights, is fully inherited from the Avatr 06 sedan presented last year. Distinctive features of the estate are the roof rails and the elongated roofline, which smoothly flows into the redesigned rear section.
The rear fenders look more expressive, and the rising window line, along with a prominent rear spoiler, give the car a sportier appearance compared to the sedan. The estate also received a steeply raked rear window, clearly distinguishing it from the sedan. Slim LED taillights, a sculpted bumper, and an aerodynamic diffuser complete the exterior.
The 06T is expected to have the same wheelbase of 2940 mm as the sedan, with an overall length of 4855 mm.
Interior and Technologies
The cabin layout will most likely be borrowed from the sedan. This applies to both the 35.4-inch display located along the lower part of the windshield and the 15.6-inch touchscreen running HarmonyOS 5.0. Rear-seat passengers will gain more headroom, as well as additional luggage volume.
Hardware from Huawei
This estate will become the first model to receive Huawei’s new-generation 192-line lidar, mounted on the roof, as well as the latest Qiankun ADS 4.0 driver assistance system. The updated lidar increases the detection range to 250 meters, which is 20% better than the previous version.
Technical Specifications and Competitors
In terms of technical underpinnings, the 06T is expected to share a platform with the 06 sedan and the related 07 crossover. Both offer a choice between a fully electric powertrain and a range-extender hybrid scheme. The dual-motor electric version produces up to 590 hp, while the range-extender variant provides a total range of up to 1250 km. Both versions support 5C fast charging.
The Avatr 06T presentation is scheduled for the coming weeks. In the market, it will primarily compete with the Nio ET5T, rather than more expensive models like the Denza Z9 GT or Zeekr 007 GT. Prices have not been announced yet, but the 06 sedan in China already starts at 209,900 yuan.
The growing popularity of the 06 and 07 models has helped Avatr reach an average monthly sales level of about 10,000 cars in China. However, the automaker, supported by Changan, Huawei, and CATL, still needs to ramp up volumes to compete with players like Zeekr and Nio.
The emergence of the Avatr 06T demonstrates that demand for elegant and practical body styles in China remains stable, despite the global dominance of crossovers. The integration of cutting-edge technologies from Huawei, especially in the field of autonomous driving, could become a key advantage for the model in the battle for customers. The success of this estate could significantly influence the Avatr brand’s position in the domestic market and strengthen its ambitions on the international stage in the future.
