This Electric Off-Roader Is Like A Jeep, Only From The Future

New Off-Road Electric Vehicle from Vanderhall

Vanderhall, known for its sporty three-wheeled vehicle, has just introduced a completely new model that is unlike anything else from the brand. In fact, it has no analogues on the market. The model is named Brawley GTS. This fully electric off-roader has been in development for several years, and customer deliveries have already begun in the United States.

The Brawley was first shown in 2021 and has since evolved into a production-ready adventure vehicle that, unfortunately, cannot be used on public roads. It has obvious elements inspired by the Jeep Wrangler, including the grille and round headlights. However, for the most part, it looks unique and is a compact two-door model designed to be perfect for narrow trails and desert racing.

Power at Each Wheel

Vanderhall equipped the Brawley GTS with a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers four electric motors – one for each wheel. The total power output is 404 hp and 650 Nm of torque, promising lively dynamics on poor surfaces. The previous plan to offer a larger 60 kWh battery has quietly disappeared, leaving buyers with only the standard configuration.

Given the small size of the available battery and the offered power, it’s not surprising that the Brawley’s range is not particularly impressive. In fact, Vanderhall states that it can only travel 140 miles (225 km) on a single charge, so owners should be careful when embarking on overly long off-road journeys without access to charging.

Interior and Final Price

Despite its compact dimensions, the off-roader offers four seats and features rich trim, with plenty of leather in the interior. One of the most interesting features is the large glass windows integrated into the door panels.

Vanderhall initially announced a starting price of $34,950, but that was almost four years ago. Now, buyers who want to get the keys to this model will have to pay at least $49,950, which is another reminder that electric vehicle prices rarely stand still and almost never change in the buyer’s favor.

The emergence of the Brawley GTS demonstrates the growing interest of niche manufacturers in the electric off-road vehicle market. While the limited range may be a significant drawback for some buyers, the unique design and focus solely on off-road application may find their appreciator. The price increase since the announcement also reflects general trends in the electric vehicle manufacturing industry, where costs often rise faster than expected.
