Ferrari has unveiled an absolutely unique 12Cilindri car, created in collaboration with South Korean artists. This one-of-a-kind sports car is distinguished by a bold palette and details developed specifically for it.
The Car as a Work of Art
This car was created not only for fast driving but also to evoke emotions. It is the result of the work of the Ferrari Tailor Made program and collaboration with four artists from South Korea. Its exterior and interior are executed with incredible attention to detail and artistic boldness that could surprise even the brand’s most devoted fans.
The Unique Yoonseul Color
The design team sought to embody the vision of the edition C*ool Hunting, which focuses on design, culture, and technology. The first step was developing an entirely new paint for this powerful V12-engine Gran Turismo. The color was named Yoonseul.
This special color is based on Korean traditions. The matte paint texture smoothly transitions between green, purple, and blue shades depending on the lighting. Artist Dahe Chong also created unique Scuderia Ferrari shields, wheel center caps, and emblems with a semi-transparent coating, adding depth to the car’s appearance.
The color-shifting Yoonseul paint is reminiscent of the rare Mystichrome paint used on the 1996 and 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra.
That deep, iridescent blue-purple hue was achieved using tiny prisms that caught and refracted light—a technology initially developed as a security measure to protect against banknote counterfeiting. Ferrari’s solution looks more refined, but the connection to the past is interesting.
Along the car’s centerline is a special livery created by a duo of performance artists for a visual interpretation of the V12 engine’s sound. It culminates in a slightly darker shade of Yoonseul, unifying the visual theme without disrupting the overall harmony.
Detailed Embodiment of the Idea in the Interior
The interior of this Ferrari is also unparalleled. For example, it is equipped with a glass roof featuring a complex pattern applied by Chong using the stencil printing method. There is also an element on the dashboard made from Mongolian horsehair, and special fabric is used on the seats and floor.
In keeping with the semi-transparent exterior accents, the center tunnel contains panels with a matte finish and barely noticeable Yoonseul-colored details, which are also present on the door panels. The white paddle shifters were created specifically for this car, echoing the white brake calipers on the exterior.
The Heart Remains Untouched
The powertrain remains the same as in the production Ferrari 12Cilindri. The car retains the flagship 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine with 818 horsepower and 678 Nm of torque, making it a true beast on the road. However, considering how much creating this specimen must have cost, it’s hard to imagine it will be used frequently.
Projects like this demonstrate how far an automaker can go in the realm of personalization, turning a production car into a moving work of art. This is not just a matter of status but also proof that the automotive industry is increasingly intertwined with contemporary art and culture, creating new forms of expression. This approach opens the door for unique collaborations where technical perfection meets artistic vision, giving birth to objects that expand the understanding of what a car can be.
