In the world of automobiles, there are many unique models, but some remain almost unnoticed even among the most avid collectors. Origin and Transformation
This car began its life as a Ferrari 328 GTS, before the German company Michalak Design undertook its transformation. Ferrari had no involvement in this modification. The mechanical foundation and powertrain of the 328 GTS remained unchanged, but the body received a new custom-made aluminum kit, which reduced weight.
The Conciso was first shown to the public at the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show. After that, Michalak sold the car to a collector from North America, where it remained until 1998.
Ownership History and Restoration
When the first owner passed away, the car was purchased by a Belgian collector, and in 2018 it was returned to the USA. During 2022–2023, the car underwent a complete restoration commissioned from the Italian firm Bacchelli & Villa. Over €50,000 (approximately $57,100) was spent on restoring the Conciso, including a full repaint in its original colors of Rosso Corsa and Gunmetal Gray. The paint job alone cost over €23,000 ($26,300).
This is a significant amount for a refresh, especially considering that the car last sold at auction in 2018 for $109,250. There is currently no information on how much RM Sotheby’s expects to get for this model. Since the sale is being conducted through the Sealed platform, the final price will not be disclosed.
Technical Specifications and Weight
Thanks to its aluminum body, the Conciso weighs only 1,960 lbs (889 kg), which is approximately 800 lbs (363 kg) less than the base 328 GTS. For comparison, a modern Mazda MX-5 Miata weighs about 2,341 lbs (1,062 kg).
The engine remained unchanged, but the reduction in mass allows for a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of approximately 5 seconds, and the top speed reaches 170 mph (274 km/h). Additionally, in 2019, the car appeared on the show Jay Leno’s Garage.
