Rare Honda NSX-R Up for Sale
Honda produced only 140 examples of the second-generation NSX-R (model NA2), and one of them is now available for purchase. Despite its modest power compared to modern supercars, this car amazes with its direct connection to the road and pure driving sensations.
In 2002, the NSX-R with 276 horsepower demonstrated that true driving pleasure does not necessarily depend on the number of horsepower. Even now, two decades later, it can outperform many new models. As Henry Catchpole from Hagerty notes:
This is a car that defies the numbers. Its handling is so pure, and its gearbox is so fast, that it leaves modern supercars behind.
Why is the NSX-R Special?
An important aspect of the NSX-R is its lightness – thanks to carbon fiber panels, thinner glass, and the absence of extra sound insulation, the car’s weight is reduced by 100 kg. A short final drive ratio makes it more dynamic, but the main thing is the feeling of unity with the road. Even though its power is lower than that of the Ferrari 360 Modena of that era, the driving experience remains unmatched.
Now, one such rare example with a mileage of 10,000 miles is up for auction. Its price is expected to reach between 750,000 and 850,000 euros, making it more expensive than many modern supercars. This is evidence that true automotive legends do not lose their value over time.
The NSX-R reminds us that a true driver’s car is not just a set of technical specifications, but the result of a meticulous engineering approach to the sensations behind the wheel. Its legacy continues to inspire car enthusiasts, even in an era where new models break acceleration and power records.
