This Individual Defender Removes the Roof and Showcases Luxurious Leather Interior

Land Rover Defender Convertible by Urban Automotive

The Land Rover Defender has always been famous for its versatility, but it lacked one option – a convertible. The British tuning atelier Urban Automotive, together with the Dutch company Heritage Customs, presented an original solution – an open-top Defender with a bright design.

Although Urban Automotive itself did not handle the roof removal, they significantly reworked the exterior of the off-roader. The model received wide fenders, a new hood with ventilation holes, LED daytime running lights, and 23-inch black wheels. Carbon mirrors and aerodynamic elements emphasize the car’s sporty character.

Interior and Cost

The main feature of this version became the soft folding roof with two safety hoops over the rear seats. The interior is adorned with Hermes Orange leather, which is used not only on the Recaro seats with carbon backs but also on the dashboard and steering wheel. This solution creates a premium, albeit quite bold, image.

The exact price of this custom Defender is not disclosed, but the basic conversion option starts from €85,000. Considering the scale of the modifications, the final amount could be significantly higher. This project demonstrates how a classic off-roader can get a new life thanks to the creative approach of tuners.

Similar projects are becoming increasingly popular among lovers of exclusive cars. At the same time, they raise questions about the balance between original design and functionality – because an off-roader without a roof, although it looks impressive, may lose some of its practical advantages.
