This Compact Land Cruiser 70 Series Analog Costs Much Less Than You Might Think

Japanese Suzuki Jimny Tuning in Toyota Land Cruiser Style

If the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ seems too large or not retro enough, Japanese craftsmen offer an interesting solution. Specialists from Jimmy Land, in collaboration with the Garage Ill atelier, have presented a styling kit called 70YO.70, which transforms the compact Suzuki Jimny into a miniature copy of the legendary Land Cruiser 70 Series off-roader.

The kit includes a number of changes that go far beyond simply replacing the grille:

Options for Off-Road Use

The styling kit can be combined with various off-road equipment for a more serious look and capabilities. Optional accessories include:

  • A snorkel for overcoming water obstacles.
  • New alloy wheels with all-terrain tires.
  • A suspension with increased ground clearance.

Judging by the available images, the kit can be installed on both the three-door Jimny and the five-door Jimny Nomad version, although mostly three-door variants are being showcased so far.

The Technical Part Remains Unchanged

Under the hood remains the standard naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 101 hp. This is approximately half that of a genuine Toyota Land Cruiser with a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel, but the significantly lighter weight of the Suzuki partially compensates for the power difference. For those for whom this is not enough, there is an option to install a turbo kit.

The drive remains all-wheel drive, and the transmission can be either manual or automatic, depending on the car’s original configuration.

Ready-Made Cars Already Available for Sale

Jimmy Land is already offering ready-to-sell cars in Japan. They are available in Sand Beige, White, and Black. The black version stands out with a raised suspension and a more aggressive stance.

The beige version, according to the seller’s information, costs approximately ¥4,250,000 (about $28,000). For a customized Suzuki Jimny Sierra with a retro aura and genuine off-road capabilities, this is not an overly inflated price.

This project demonstrates how deep styling can be when executed with attention to detail. It also highlights the constant demand for compact yet characterful off-roaders with bright individuality. Compared to other popular Jimny stylings under Ford Bronco or Mercedes G-Class, this option is focused on authentic off-road heritage, which may be key for fans of classic models. The success of such transformations often depends on the quality of detail execution, and here the Japanese masters seem to have made maximum effort to create a convincing illusion.
