Japanese tuning atelier Damd presents a retro kit for the Mitsubishi Delica Mini
Tuning company Damd has developed a styling kit called “Dali” for the compact minivan Mitsubishi Delica Mini. This kit radically changes the car’s appearance, giving it features of the classic first-generation Mitsubishi Pajero SUV from the 80s.
The kit includes a number of characteristic elements:
Style and kei car limitations
Despite the radical change in image, the car retains the dimensions dictated by Japanese kei car regulations: a length of 3,395 mm and a width of 1,475 mm. The tuners did not make any changes to the body structure. The demonstration model also received 15-inch Damd Cantabile alloy wheels, 165/56R15 tires, and a roof-mounted luggage rack.
The design recreates the classic Mitsubishi SUV from the 80s
The car’s interior remains almost stock for now, but Damd plans to add themed seat covers to complete the look. It is important to note that the Dali kit does not involve any technical modifications. Under the hood remains the standard turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 660 cc and an output of 63 hp, which can be paired with all-wheel drive.
Availability and presentation
The kit components are in the final stages of development and are expected to go on sale in Japan soon. The price has not been announced yet, but the company promises it will remain affordable. The Dali kit will be presented at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon alongside other retro projects by Damd, such as the Lancia-styled Suzuki Jimny.
Such projects demonstrate the constant demand for nostalgic design among car enthusiasts, even in the strictly regulated segment of city cars. The ability of a tuning atelier to create a recognizable image of a legendary SUV within limitations is an interesting example of how style can significantly change the perception of a modern vehicle without touching its technical component. It also highlights the cultural significance of cars like the Pajero, whose image remains relevant decades later.
