Xiaomi YU7: A New Electric SUV with a Record-Breaking Hood
Xiaomi has unveiled its long-awaited electric SUV, the YU7, which continues the company’s successful line of electric vehicles. The car features a massive aluminum hood that has set a record among production models—its area is 4,820 square inches (3.11 m²). For comparison, the Ford F-150 Lightning has a smaller figure—4,030 square inches.
Despite its large size, the YU7’s hood is made of aluminum, which has allowed its weight to be halved compared to a steel counterpart. Underneath it is a 141-liter trunk compartment, which, while not the largest in the world of electric vehicles, remains quite practical.
Technical Features and Trim Levels
One of the most interesting features of the YU7 is the narrow 43.3-inch display located near the windshield. It displays all essential vehicle information and multimedia content for the passenger.
Pricing for the new model will be announced in July, but it is already clear that Xiaomi is making a serious bet on the electric SUV market. Thanks to powerful engines, a long driving range, and innovative solutions, the YU7 could become a serious competitor to existing models.
It is still unknown whether the YU7 lineup will include an Ultra version, similar to the SU7, which produces over 1,500 hp. However, even without it, Xiaomi’s new SUV looks very promising, especially considering the success of the company’s previous models.
