This Lamborghini Became the Last of Its Kind

Rare Lamborghini Murcielago with a Manual Transmission

Today, manual transmissions are regaining popularity thanks to limited-edition supercars, but twenty years ago, during the heyday of the Murcielago, buyers preferred the e-gear automatic transmission. However, it is now the manual versions that are most highly valued.

This 2003 example, currently listed for sale in the U.S., is equipped with a rare six-speed manual gearbox. The current owner purchased it in 2020, and the car remains in excellent condition. With only 9,000 miles (14,400 km) on the odometer and the original 18-inch wheels, it looks just as stunning as it did in the early 2000s.

Technical Features and Historical Significance

Although by modern standards the Murcielago cannot be called comfortable, it features active dampers and a front axle lift system. In 2022, the steering system was repaired, and in 2023, the air conditioning was updated. A lightweight titanium exhaust system with sport catalysts has also been installed, allowing the V12 to sound even louder.

This Murcielago is equipped with a 6.2-liter V12, not the 6.5-liter found in later models. However, its 572 horsepower and 649 Nm of torque, delivered to all four wheels, remain impressive even today.

This model became the last in Lamborghini’s lineup to pair a V12 with a manual transmission. Its historical significance continues to grow, and its current price of $490,000 (adjusted for inflation) only confirms its status as a collector’s car. For brand enthusiasts, this is a unique opportunity to become part of an automotive legend.
