Legendary Toyota FJ40 receives a powerful update
Toyota FJ40 is considered one of the most iconic Land Cruiser models. Production of this off-road vehicle began back in 1960, and it lasted until 2001 in some markets. The car became famous for its simplicity, reliability, and excellent off-road capability. This is why many companies today offer FJ40 modernization, adding modern technologies while preserving its spirit.
One such firm is Legacy Overland, which introduced an updated version of the FJ40. The car was completely disassembled, leaving the original frame, and then a new V8 engine with an electronic fuel injection system, an aluminum radiator, and a stainless steel exhaust system was installed. The transmission was also updated with a new clutch and a refurbished transfer case.
Exterior and interior updates
In addition to mechanical improvements, Legacy Overland replaced the original hard top with a soft top, which will allow the driver to enjoy the open air. New doors, handles, seals, and 15-inch Sumitomo wheel rims were additionally installed.
The interior was also updated: new door panels and gear shift lever covers appeared. Although it was possible to install a modern multimedia system, the project authors decided to preserve the classic style, making this FJ40 a perfect combination of original design and additional power.
This project shows how classic automotive design can be combined with modern technologies without losing its authenticity. The Toyota FJ40 remains a symbol of reliability, and such updates only emphasize its status as an iconic off-roader.
