This Lightweight Engine Produces Power That Surpasses Most Supercars

A New Stage in Electric Motor Development

The British company Yasa Motors, owned by Mercedes-Benz, has introduced a revolutionary electric motor with incredible power. Despite the lack of exact start dates for production, this development could become the new standard for electric cars.

The engine weighs only 13.1 kg but produces 738 hp, which significantly exceeds the performance of other known developments. For example, the Australian Equipmake HPM-400 motor weighs 40 kg and develops 536 hp. Even the powerful Dark Matter, which will be used in the Gemera, seems heavy compared to the novelty – its mass is 39 kg at 800 hp.

“We have achieved not just numbers – this is a demonstration of scalable innovations that raise the bar for electric motors. And the most interesting thing is that we are just getting started,” said Tim Woolmer, Technical Director of Yasa.

Prospects for the Automotive Industry

The technology is already finding application in premium models. For example, the Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept uses three such motors, which together provide over 1341 hp. Yasa also supplies engines for the Lamborghini Revuelto and the upcoming Temerario model.

Interestingly, the new motor does not contain exotic materials, making it more accessible for mass production. This could accelerate the transition of automakers to more efficient electric drives.

Yasa’s performance indicators suggest that the electric vehicle industry is preparing for a new leap in performance. Given partnerships with brands like Ferrari and Mercedes, these technologies are most likely to appear in production models in the coming years.
