This Motorcycle from the “Tron” Movie Actually Works and Can Be Purchased

Unique “Tron”-Style Motorcycle Heads to Auction

Sometimes science fiction ceases to be just a dream and becomes a real source of inspiration. A creation by Parker Brothers is precisely such an example. This motorcycle, named the PBC NeuTron, is a real electric motorcycle with hubless wheels, approved for use on public roads, and it is waiting for a new owner. In January, it will be sold at auction with no minimum price.

Design Inspired by Cinema

The model is created in the image of the famous lightcycle from the Hollywood blockbuster “Tron.” The bike impresses with dramatic 24-inch hubless wheels, lighting, and a minimalist black body that favors spectacle over modesty.

This thing is fully approved for public roads, equipped with headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, mirrors, a license plate mount, and even lighting for it.

Looks vs. Performance

However, one should not expect it to be a speed demon capable of competing even with the most modest production motorcycles. The electric powertrain produces only 60 horsepower and has a top speed of approximately 100-118 mph (160-190 km/h). It is built more for leisurely rides and gathering admiring glances, as evidenced by the rider’s seating position.

To control the bike, one must hold the handlebars very wide and lean forward significantly. At the same time, the rider’s feet do not have traditional footpegs but are placed vertically on flat platforms at the rear of the motorcycle.

Sales History and Cost

Interestingly, judging by the frame’s VIN code, this very motorcycle already appeared at a Mecum auction in January 2025, so it is not new to changing hands. The final selling price at that time was not disclosed, and given the bike’s niche appeal, it could have been almost anything.

According to 2020 data, brand new, this motorcycle would have cost $75,000. The same report indicates that in 2017, someone purchased one example at an RM Sotheby’s auction for just $23,000. Parker Brothers themselves claim that someone once paid an additional $22,000 over the recommended price for another example, further confusing attempts to determine market value.

A New Chance for Collectors

Now it is heading under the hammer again at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale with no minimum price. Depending on who is in the room and how much they want to get a piece of sci-fi nostalgia, the final price could range from a bargain purchase to a true bidding war.

So, if the idea of parking a real lightcycle in your garage seems appealing to you, the NeuTron’s lights are on, and it is ready to find a new owner again. Just don’t be surprised if it outshines your car, your neighbors’ cars, and probably the entire block.

The sale of such an object is always an interesting indicator of the unique vehicle market. It combines the status of a collectible art object, a technological curiosity, and the possibility of practical use, which is rarely combined in one product. The history of its past sales shows how much the value of such things depends on the specific moment, the auction atmosphere, and the presence of exactly that buyer for whom this item has special value. It is a reminder that the market for exclusive cars and motorcycles is often driven not only by technical specifications but by emotions, history, and the desire to own something truly unique.
