This Mustang Has So Much Power That No Insurance Will Handle It

Rare Shelby Mustang 1000 Put Up for Auction

In 2012, Shelby introduced a special version of the Mustang called the 1000. This package could be installed on GT500 and Super Snake models, significantly increasing their power. According to experts, it was a true challenge for all Mustang enthusiasts.

The Mustang 1000 became the most powerful version at the time. Its 5.4-liter V8 engine received a 3.6-liter Kenne Bell turbocharger, as well as an upgraded fuel system, forged components, and improved cylinder heads. As a result, the car produced 950 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque. For those who wanted even more, there was a track version with 1100 horsepower.

Technical Features and Rarity

To handle such power, Shelby made numerous changes to the design, including an upgraded rear axle, more powerful brakes, and a reinforced driveshaft. Stiffer springs, stabilizer bars, and bushings were also added, as well as a carbon fiber hood with ventilation ports.

This particular Mustang 1000 belonged to jeweler David Yurman and has only 973 miles on it. The cost of a new model in 2012 was $200,000, which was supercar-level even for those times. Now this rare specimen is being put up for auction by Mecum, and its price could be very high.

This was the last car approved by Carroll Shelby himself before his death in May 2012.

Given the limited quantity, power, and historical significance, this Mustang 1000 will be a real find for collectors. But, as experts note, only those who are willing to spend serious money will be able to purchase it.
